I'm studying the Hexagram rituals and have come across some variations that few can seem to sort out.

.:: 1st Version ::.

I've heard of the Lesser Hexagram ritual. Basically drawing 4 Golden Star of David's around you. Starting at Saturn for the first triangle, then starting at Luna for the 2nd triangle.

.:: 2nd Version ::.

Then I found this in the Adventures of a Magus book.

Which would insinuate that there is a version where you trace each elemental hexagram

1st problem) There's no pathing on each individual triangle for ELEMENTAL hexagram

2nd Problem) Some suggest that you just follow the planetary pathing for that specific shape, but there's no yellow. As the SoL Hexagram is all of them overlapping.

3rd Problem) Or point really, is I think it's just showing what these shapes mean in respect to when they're draw within the planetary system

.:: 3rd Version ::.

I see people on YouTube all the time show this Lesser Hexagram (Invoking or banishing in this video) ritual drawing gold shapes, but in the pathing of Saturn.

Which wrong because Saturn isn't Gold, it's Black. As shown here.

.:: Conclusion ::.

I've settled on the Lesser Hexagram Ritual being just the 4 gold star of David's drawn starting at Saturn, and the second starting at Luna, (Like the Green Earth invoking Hexagram)

Then the Great Hexagram Ritual being the individual planetary pathing with associated colors.

I'm not interested in how "You do it" or "Do what feels right". There is an objective, correct way to do these, and that's what I want to learn before I do anything else.

Thanks for any light you can shed on the topic, pun intended. LVX.

As far as I know the direction in which the Triangles are to be traced (talking about the first set with the 4 different figures which you call the 2nd version) is only done in two ways. One for banishing and one for invoking - these are shown in books like Modern Magick (and the vid you posted around 1.20 as I saw skipping through it)

In Crowley's book Magick he gives his version with the Unicursal Hexagram, and this does give different ways depending on the planet you wish to invoke or banish.

As far as I could tell, there are no elemental hexagrams. The hexagrams themselves are representative of the elements, but the visualizations didn't match with the colors. I'm pretty sure it's just 4 gold hexagrams for the LIRH and then the planetary in corresponding colors. Otherwise you're just drawing the Saturn invoking and thinking it's gold. I mean it's your world, but historically I could find no precedent for this. There is no inbetween, just being taught incorrectly. Planetary hexagrams invoke planetary energies, so it makes sense you would draw and think of the corresponding pathways and colors. Why people draw all 4 in gold (Starting at Saturn and Luna for tracing) is a mystery to me other than just for balancing, but then you would draw just 4 hexagrams, not the corresponding shaped hexagrams like in the ritual. Otherwise (like in the video above) you're just doing your own thing. That's cool too, I just wanted to be sure about it.

Thanks.

The 4 different hexagrams represent the elements of the Zodiacsigns. Two upward triangles for Fire (Aries) in the East because fire rises. The normal Hexagram / star of David in the South for earth / Capricorn, the two triangles (one up and one down with the bases touching) in the West for Air/ Libra, and the two triangles (one down and one up with the apex touching) in the North for water / Cancer.

This is how it is taught in DMK's Modern Magick
You're welcome, and have an amazing day
